Frequently Asked Questions

How does this site work?

No flash intro, no complicated menus, just straightforward icons and instructions which should be easy to understand in any language once you get used to the format.

To find the music you are looking for, you have two options :

Track Search

The easiest way to find music on this site is to use the track search form. Click "Tracks" in the navigation bar above, and then filter down the results by selecting which criteria a track should match and / or the name of a track should you be searching for something specific.

You can combine as many filters as you like, or if you so choose, you can browse through the entire catalogue without any filters at all.

You can quickly change your search filters by clicking on a track's icons or genre to search for other tracks matching the same criteria.

Artist Search

If you are looking for music from a specific artist, either select "Artists" from the navigation bar, or one of the sub-options in the drop down menu. Artists can be accessed either by their real name or by the aliases / group names they make music under.

To search, you can either use the small search bar at the top of either section to search through that specific representation (ie. real names or aliases), or you can select "Search" from the drop down in the navigation bar to perform a search on both.

Once you have found the artist you are looking for, click on "View All Tracks" to see all tracks that artist is associated with on the site.

Please note, clicking "View All Tracks" from an alias page will only display tracks for that specific alias. If you want to view all tracks by the artist behind the name, you should browse that person's real-name profile, and follow the discography link from there.

How do I listen to the tracks?

A short 30 second clip of each track is available where ever you see the listen icon, regardless of whether you are logged in or not.

To access full length mp3 demo files, you must be registered (for free) and logged in, at which point a link to the full length file will appear in the information box on a track's profile page.

How do I become a registered member?

Registration can be achieved via a simple form.

To become a registered member, you must have a valid MCPS license / P number. Upon completion of the registration form, your request will be forwarded on to a member of staff who will authorise your details and activate your account. You will be notified by email immediately once your account has become active.

Please make sure to add info@thedml.co.uk to your trusted address list in your email program (especially for those of you who use webmail such as Hotmail or Gmail) so that your account confirmation details aren't accidentally marked as spam!

How do I apply for licenses?

Now that you are a registered member and logged in, you will notice a new box in the top left corner of the screen, name "My Tracks". You can add tracks to this list via the information box on tracks' profile pages.

Once you have the tracks you would like to license in your list, click on the "Submit List" link in the "My Tracks" box to take you to the license application form. Here you can confirm your contact details and optionally post a short message to accompany your application.

Upon clicking "Submit" your application will be forwarded to a member of staff who will be in contact to discuss and confirm the details of your license request, and to arrange delivery of the full quality WAV / AIFF copies of the tracks being licensed.
