From early childhood, Toby Best has taken his music very seriously. At the age of just six, he was classically trained to play the trumpet.

Started with a trumpet as tall as I was at 5. Played said instrument embarrassingly in various school concerts and local jazz ensembles. Didn't like going red in the face all the time, so decided to learn guitar. Realised that wasn't really my thing so went through a searching phase playing drums and keyboards, all rather badly.
At 15 decided my heart was set on punk and formed a band who then took a tragically long time to die off. Turned into a complete control freak, lost friends but realised that my computer doesn't moan at my demands. Became a producer / programmer / composer creature, and even spin records from time-to-time (and get paid!).
Bear Neccessities, Fuze, Genetic Stress, Additive
Mountains, dreams, Capoeira, football, most people, travelling and chilling.
Politicians, stress, German food and doughnuts without jam.
You really want to know?
Solo Album, round-the-world-trip, locate soulmate, graduate in Capoeira, be Happy. Sounds good, innit?
Songwriting, production music, film music, trying not to smoke myself into laziness.
I sometimes find even Germans amusing. No really! And I was a child TV star, many, many, many moons ago..... Oh, and I kicked David Beckham’s shins in games against his school twice a year for three years.
My 1st single with Additive, 1st concert as a punk but absolutely not my first (and only) Karaoke experiment.
But probably the greatest achievement is my transformation into a teutonic lunatic DJ hero!
Everything I listen to, just too many too mention. Just heard in order: Dizzee Rascal, Nerd, The Beatles, Run DMC, Talvin Sing, Van Morrison, Nora Jones, Donald Byrd......
Not really. A great uncle was in a bunch of Disney films, only met him once though. And a couple of important Military bods, from back in the day. (Admiral G. Best and Air Vice Marshal Graham for those strange types who are actually interested).
A man once told me that human will is just to the brain what smoke is to the fire.
